APOLO joins Virtual Tech Forum for World Maritime Day 2026

On the occasion of the International Maritime Organization’s World Maritime Day 2026, APOLO joined a special edition of the 1CUBE Virtual Tech Forum, bringing together five European projects working on innovative solutions for the maritime energy transition.

Under the theme “From Policy to Practice: Powering Maritime Excellence”, the online forum explored a key question for the sector:

How can we move from ambitious maritime policies and decarbonisation targets to practical solutions, innovation and real-world impact?

The event brought together experts from different European research and innovation projects to share perspectives on the challenges and opportunities shaping the transition towards a more sustainable maritime sector.

Representing the APOLO project, Fausto Gallucci contributed to the discussion, alongside:

  • CAIPIRINH3A – George Skevis
  • MaritimeMET & MetNH3Energy – Ajoy Ramalingam
  • Green Marine – Harsha Mysore

The discussion highlighted the importance of connecting research, technology, policy and collaboration to accelerate the uptake of innovative solutions in the maritime sector. Beyond developing new technologies, effective communication between researchers, industry, policymakers and other stakeholders is essential to turn innovation into practical applications.

For APOLO, the forum provided an opportunity to contribute to this wider European conversation and to highlight the role that innovative energy and power-conversion technologies can play in supporting the maritime sector’s decarbonisation pathway.

The event took place online on 24 September 2026, as part of the activities celebrating World Maritime Day 2026.
